I graduated high school in 2014 at the top of my class and my future seemed pretty much decided for me; I would go to college on the pre-med track and become a doctor. I enrolled at the local university on a fully paid ride and survived a whole semester! Once I started at UTA, I started to meet new people and my viewpoints about life completely shifted. I started to learn about holistic healing, and after that nothing else made sense in mainstream medicine. I started to scramble with what I would do with myself, going from a projected MD route to DO (Doctor of Osteopathy) to ND (Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine) to finally, Midwife. I found a way to combine my beliefs about health and nutrition with my love for pregnancy, birth, and babies. Within a few months I looked at several curricula and places to apprentice, and after talking to many midwives and birth centers, Molly at Heart’s Desire Midwifery Care was the best fit for me!
I started my apprenticeship in September of 2015 and am really loving it so far. I’m currently the Senior Student and Assistant under Supervision here. I’ve just started taking primary clients which means I’m getting even more hands on experience while serving women through pregnancy and birth. I’m very thankful that I am given these opportunities to learn and grow as all of these women are helping me in my goal to become a Midwife.
I praise God for where He has led me and I am excited for all that I’ll learn in midwifery and the wonderful people I’ll meet in the future.
