i.e. childbirth educator, doula, La Leche League Leader, WIC counselor, etc.
i.e. high blood pressure, diabetes, severe menstrual cramps, allergies, hypoglycemia, etc.
You will miss holidays, birthdays, events you really wanted to attend, etc. Your teaching midwives are accustomed to this - as it is pretty much a given with this career - but are you really able to do the same?
i.e. not ever being alone, not working on certain days, not comfortable with certain alternative medicine modalities (chiropractic, homeopathy, acupuncture, etc.). etc
i.e. computer/Internet/social networking skills, typing, teaching, cleaning, sewing, researching, organizing, decorating, etc.?
Learn best from reading, seeing/hearing, physically doing, etc.
You can stay at the birth center at no cost but please plan on providing your own food. Also plan on renting a car if you will want the capability to go out and about when chores are done and no client appointments are scheduled. We recommend you bring academic homework if you are currently enrolled in midwifery school. There will be available times to work on that.
